Assn plea to govt. - News Today

The All India Radio & Electronics Association has appealed to the State government to identify the electronics components distinctly from electrical items and restore the tax at 4 per cent for all electronic components and accessories.

In a press release here yesterday, V. Sankar, president of the association, said the government had announced changes in sales tax rates which had been increased from the existing rate of 4 per cent.

He called for restoring the tax for electronic components and accessories at the earlier rates(4 per cent).

On the proposal for 1 per cent resale tax, he said it would result in hardship to the small dealers and appealed to the government not to go ahead with the proposal.
